![]() Melodyne, Serato, Dirac, Radius, Elastique. Recent algorithms using more modern approaches like TDHS, Wavelets and the stuff done by Prosoniq/Zynaptiq are better at finding a dynamic adjustment and other tricks to get the best of the possible algorithm settings automatically, but even in 2018, we're still "not there" in the sense of perfect results. Developers can choose to stretch using very short audio buffers to stay very tight in timing, but that will introduce a very "grainy" sound.Ĭhoosing a longer buffer and crossfading between time-stretched or time-compressed audio buffers will sound much smoother but will also smear transients, making a drum loop sound like it's dropped into honey. OK, we're talking about tiny offsets of a few milliseconds that I would guess are introduced by Blocs Wave's time stretching algorithm, that would also explain why the offsets are not uniform for the different attack transients you've shown. Wow if this really is the case as it seems, it will be very interesting to hear what amplify say, as this is obviously centre to their whole app and IAP model. Note that this is audible or you certainly can feel it, I’ve realized that because after import in Gadget there was something wrong in rythmic timing, no impact with other tracks. Also offset is not only in Gadget but also BW after importing the initial loop (exported from BW, not Gadget).Ĭreate a blank BW project, change bpm (example 95 to 110), export your loop, import it again in BW and check waves. Offsets are not regular and occurs after first beat. On screenshots this is beat 1.3 so third beat of first bar. Yes of course bpm is the same in both apps. Have you set the same bpm in Gadget? There is silence at the beginning of your audio and Gadget won't touch the imported audio file in contrast to blocs wave which will do proper time stretching/compressing. Same 129 bpm exported loop imported again in Blocswave same offsetĮxported loop imported again in BW at initial 95 bpm, correct said: This is loop exported imported at 129 bpm in Gadget, there is an offset Here is initial waveform timestretched at 129 bpm Spent 50 € during sales, 100 € value on BW features and packs iaps It’s an important info for Blocswave users IMO, wanted to share it. On iOS, when recording BW IAA output in AUM or GarageBand with midi link sync in real-time it’s a bit better but still not as tight as it should. With Ableton Live you can use markers to fix offset, but that’s a huge work on a full set. I don’t know if can fix that, but that’s a huge issue, and will kill any precise timing and will give floaty groove. ![]() ![]() I don’t know their algo, but I’ve read even Pro Tools Elastique algo gives similar issues, when Ableton Live’s one is spot on. This is not a midi timestamps issue, but gives certainly similar issues. With iaps packs it’s just not possible to know loops initial bpm, that doesn’t help. For example a 95 bpm drum loop played at 129 bpm will not export correctly: first beat is spot on, but all other beats are all other the place when you zoom in. There is an issue with Blocswave and exported loops when time stretch is involved.

![]() In 2013-14 Bratz were officially back with a new look and a new slogan, and in 2014 MGA stopped producing Moxie Girlz. As these gained some popularity (but never reaching Bratz levels), the Bratz brand received a series of little makeovers. Due to a technical issue nothing came of this.but Mattel discontinued MyScene dolls in 2011, and in 2014 MGA filed a lawsuit against Mattel for $1 billion - which is pending to this day.Īlthough MGA emerged on top, they still placed the Bratz brand on a brief hiatus in the midst of all these events, whilst also coming out with a separate (but similar) doll line called Moxie Girlz. After an appeal process, in 2011 the federal court ruled in MGA’s favour, and this time Mattel was in trouble - the jury found them liable of stealing MGA’s trade secrets. Although the court ruled wholly in Mattel’s favour in 2008, the battle was far from over. What ensued was a battle lasting a good few years between MGA and Mattel over who had the rights to the cool, stylish, multi-ethnic, big-eyed dolls. In 2002 Mattel unveiled their own line of trendy fashion dolls with larger heads aimed at tweens - the MyScene doll line, a direct competitor to Bratz. By 2006 Bratz comprised 40% of the fashion doll market worldwide (vs Barbie’s 60%), and they were the top-selling fashion doll in the UK and in Australia.ĭespite this booming success, Bratz entered the current decade in a problematic position with an injunction looming over the brand. While Barbie joined a myriad of professions and her mission was to show girls that they could do anything (whilst looking glamorous at all times), the Bratz slogan was a more simple “the girls with a passion for fashion”. They were largely ethnically ambiguous and diverse, they could stand up unassisted, their makeup and outfits were more sexy. Released into the world in 2001, they quickly caught up to Barbie. They were the cooler, more “urban” doll aimed at slightly older girls. Remember Bratz dolls?īratz dolls, also owned by MGA, were competitors to the Barbie in the 2000s. O.M.G dolls are curvier than a Barbie doll, have more “current” clothing, and have large heads with exaggerated facial features. LOL Surprise have now released upwards of a dozen LOL Surprise O.M.G dolls - trendy older sisters to their core line. Owned by MGA Entertainment, the dolls combine cuteness, unboxing, and collectability - but the brand did not have a fashion doll line until this year. There is of course the doll brand which has been topping all the top toy sales lists and selling out worldwide - LOL Surprise. According to the NPD group, doll sales will continue growing through 20. 2018’s sales of Barbie reached a five year high with $1.09 billion (USD), and considering how 2019 has been going, this year’s sales will exceed this.Īlthough the toy industry has slowed down the past few years, dolls have been one of the sectors that have not shown the same kind of decline. In their financial reports, Mattel has reported a 10% increase in gross sales of Barbie in the third quarter of 2019, making it the doll’s 8th quarter of continuous growth. Starting with Q4 of 2017, Barbie has seen constant sales growth each quarter. Barbie is named as the third favourite toy by children aged 3-12 in France, Germany and Italy, only falling short of LEGO and Playmobil brands. Both Barbie’s popularity and the revenues the brand generates have risen in 2018-19. Mattel’s Barbie turned 60 years old this year, and despite criticism she carries on being one of Mattel’s strongest brands. ![]() The 2010s have seen particular strides being made when it comes to women’s position in society and the breakdown of norms and expectations (to varying degrees of course we are still far from a feminist utopia), but (un)surprisingly the fashion doll has held on tight, and isn’t going anywhere. Always too skinny, too glamorous, too girly, too inappropriate, the fashion doll has been the subject of many a think piece and piece of academic research. The Barbie doll and its successors have been the target of criticism as far as I can remember, may it be for their body shape, clothing, or career choices. One could argue that fashion dolls have always been synonymous with gender stereotypes and portrayals of perfect aspirational femininity. This prompted me to think about a type of toy that has been around for a very, very long time, and has had a very interesting decade in the midst of changing social norms and trends: the fashion doll. Lists ranking top TV shows, films, toys and memes are popping up everywhere, as are pieces contemplating the cultural significance of many events or pieces of media. CAT II Linguists must have a native-level proficiency in at least one language and a near-native proficiency in another language. What Is A Cat Ii Linguist?Ī CAT II Linguist is a language specialist who is able to translate between two or more languages with a high degree of accuracy. According to him, understanding their intentions will allow us to better adapt to their needs. That’s far longer than our forefathers ever spoke to us. Humans and cats have been living together for 10,000 years. According to Eklund, people and housecats may have evolved in ways that evolved over time. In the first session, the team will look at prosody, pitch patterns, and inflection. Researchers have discovered that knowing what these tones mean can be beneficial to both humans and cats. To communicate pleasure or annoyance, the tones used may differ in measurable ways. And for others still, it’s a way to combine their love of linguistics with their love of cats! For others, it’s a desire to better understand the language of our feline friends. So why would someone want to become a cat linguist? For some, it’s a love of cats. By observing and analyzing these behaviors, cat linguists can learn a lot about how cats communicate with each other and with humans. This can include their meows, purrs, and other vocalizations, as well as their body language. So what happens when you put the two together? You get a cat linguist! A cat linguist is someone who studies the language of cats. If there had to be one thing negative to say about Azure Striker Gunvolt, it's that it's tragically short, and casual players would beat it within a couple hours, but the replayability of this game is insane. It's an insane challenge, but it's so incredibly satisfying when you work hard at it and finally get that S+ after memorizing stage patterns, paths, and where to execute doubles or triples to maximize your possible score. An example of this might be one stage that an S rank is required with 200k points, but an S+ is DOUBLE that amount. The difference between an S and an S+ rank is not only simply not getting hit, but how efficient you are at slaying every enemy in the most efficient ways possible to rack up kudos combos. You'd think if you can get an S rank, an S+ rank is not too far off. C is the lowest rank you can get, and S+ is the highest. You are then ranked based on how many points you got at the end of the stage, and, depending on your time, the score is multiplied. You can get additional bonus kudos through combat bonuses, such as double or triples (harder than it sounds), or air strikes, secret bonuses, etc. These kudos rise whenever you deal damage to an enemy with your gun or electricity. See, when you kill enemies or get special bonuses, you rack up a 'score' of sorts called 'kudos'. Mastering it, on the other hand, is the biggest challenge of the game. Even so, the game is relatively easy to learn for just about everyone. Enemy placement might be in places that are risky to go to to attempt to mark the enemy to kill them. An enemy might have a shield to prevent you from marking them, for instance. It sounds easy, but the game is often designed to make the player feel more underpowered than anything. You can 'mark' enemies with your gun up to 3 times on a single target, and activating electricity will cause the marked enemies to be shocked by up to 3 bolts of electricity that lasts as long as you hold the button and the tag stands. ![]() You use your electricity by a gauge below your character that measures how much you have to be able to use before over heating. You play as a guy who jumps, shoots, and shocks people with electricity. This was one of the few games that I do day one purchases on out of pure hype.
